In light of the upcoming Lunar New Year, we asked @fromchristina to talk about her favorite traditions and what the new year means for her. Christina is making sure she lives the next year to the fullest and is keeping her eye out for a few of the year’s anticipated “it” bags.
Do you engage in any Chinese New Year traditions? What is your favorite and who do you celebrate with?
My family has a tradition of eating together. We usually invite over extended family, buy a lot of food, cook a huge meal, and celebrate. I'm such a foodie so that's definitely my favorite tradition. There are also red envelopes that get passed around to children, as a kid I remember getting really excited about all the red envelopes I collected.
For this new year, what are the goals or wishes you have for yourself?
I feel like I spent 2019 really trying to take a step back and focus on myself. 2019 was a year of focusing on mental health and now, with that mindset, start pursuing the future that I want. 2020 is going to be about finally publicizing and showing everyone all the projects I've been working on for the past year. I feel like it's going to be a really exciting one! I'm also trying to make it a goal to spend more quality time with family.
What are your favorite Rebag pieces currently on the website that you think best embodies the spirit of the Year of the Rat?
The rat in the lunar calendar is supposedly clever and quick, but content living a quiet and peaceful life. I feel like my favorite bag on the website, the Dior Saddle bag portrays that well. I love pieces that are more subtle but when you look at the shape of the bag, you can see how clean and well made the piece is.
Tell us about your dream handbag. It can be a specific handbag, or something of your own imagination, like a dream collaboration between your two favorite brands, etc.
Oh man, I think my new dream bag right now is the Prada Re-Edition 2005 crossbody bag. When I first saw it pop up on social media, I was like, “Wait, what bag is that? I need it!” That will definitely be the next bag I pick up once I get back from traveling.

What handbag trend are you most excited to wear this new year?
I've been loving mini shoulder bags, I don't like carrying a lot on me so I'm loving this trend, These bags are thin so it's so lightweight and hassle-free, it's the only type of bag I've been using recently!
