Alexander McQueen puts a new twist on the classic bucket bag.
The Alexander McQueen Curve reimagines the house’s signature harness silhouette as a strong and modern take on the classic bucket silhouette. Could it be 2021’s It bag?
A sophisticated and fresh take on the bucket bag has arrived — just in time for warmer weather. First seen at the spring/summer 2021 presentation, the new Curve bag is, what Alexander McQueen creative director Sarah Burton describes is “a strong, modern interpretation of the bucket bag, with details inspired by the iconic harness silhouette,” reports British Vogue.
The only detailing on the smooth calfskin leather bag is overlapping trapunto belting that reference the corsetry and harness elements that are part of the brand’s DNA, a “high frequency” debossed seal on the back and a foil logo on the front. When closed, the overlapping double flaps of the bag create the illusion of a small saddle. The Curve comes with an adjustable shoulder strap that can transform the bag into a crossbody or shoulder bag.
Currently the Curve is offered in two sizes and a number of hues, including neutrals, brights and pastels as well as bi and tri color blocking. This timeless and modern bucket could make Alexander McQueen a contender for 2021’s It bag designer.
