Dressing Up
With Steven Onoja

By Isabelle E. Mar 4, 2021

Rebag & Steven Onoja

Getting dressed is a craft and Steven Onoja has it down pat.

The always sharply-dressed NYC creative is a visual storyteller who uses fashion and other creative outlets such as photography, writing, and directing to inspire others. That’s why we partnered with him to create an exclusive collection of his favorite Rebag pieces. We also talked to Steven about his personal style, creative influences, and so much more…

How would you describe your personal style? Do you look to anyone for inspiration?

Steven: My personal style is classic and bold. There are a few people who inspire me historically, such as Fela Anikulapo Kuti, Nelson Mandela, and my late mother just to mention a few. As a writer, I take inspiration from everything around me. As a creative person, I look to my surroundings and build from there. A talented artist will tell you the same, but I live in a world where everything around me is touched.

When putting together an outfit, what is your favorite way to accessorize the look?

Steven: Jewelry is my favorite way to accessorize my look.

What is your most cherished accessory?

Steven: A watch given to me by my late mother.

What do you look for in a watch before making an investment?

Steven: I invest in watches that get better with age and time.

Your shopping edit is filled with some of our best men’s pieces. Could you share your top three items from your shopping edit, and tell us why you chose them?

The Oyster Perpetual Datejust Automatic Watch Platinum with Diamonds 26, the Oyster Perpetual Sea-Dweller Automatic Watch Stainless Steel 40, and the Oyster Perpetual Datejust Automatic Watch Stainless Steel 36. They are items I will love to pass down just like my mother did.
