How to Clean Your Cartier Tank Watch
Fine pieces require special treatment. If you’re unsure about how to clean your Cartier Tank watch, we’ve got you covered. Read on to discover the best way to care for your treasured timepiece, from what to avoid to which daily habits to adopt, how to clean and store your watch at home, and more.
Prevention And What To Avoid
To extend the longevity of your watch, regardless of its material composition, proper maintenance is key. While natural wear and tear may occur over time, particularly in the case of frequently worn pieces, there are different ways to protect them. For instance, make sure to avoid your piece coming in contact with harsh chemicals, such as cleaning agents; if your Cartier Tank showcases a leather strap, avoid it coming in contact with water, as these bands weaken if exposed to it. To keep your Tank looking bright, wipe with a soft cloth after each use and before storing it.
Caring For Your Cartier Tank Watch At Home
How To Clean Your Cartier Tank Watch
Daily Care: Use a lint-free cloth to wipe down your watch from the dirt and oil that accumulates in the crevasses of the bracelet and the area that connects the case and bezel.
At-Home Deep Cleanse:
Step 1: Every other month, you should do a deeper clean. Remove the bracelet from your Tank watch. Use a soft toothbrush and a little warm water to gently cleant the case. If need be, use mild dish soap solution. Prepare it by mixing a small amount of gentle dish soap with warm water in a bowl. Alternatively, you may use a jewelry cleaning solution specially formulated for gold and silver jewelry.
Note: For a leather strap, soak it in warm water and white vinegar instead.
Step 2: Submerge your Cartier Tank’s bracelet in the cleaning solution and let it soak for 15-20 minutes to loosen any accumulated dirt or grime.
Step 3: Proceed to carefully scrub the watch’s bracelet with a soft-bristled brush, such as a baby toothbrush, ensuring that all the nooks and crannies are cleaned. Avoid excessive scrubbing that can result in scratches on the precious metal.
Step 4: Thoroughly rinse your Tank’s bracelet with warm (not hot) water to eliminate any cleaning solution residue.
Step 5: Afterward, dry it with a soft, lint-free cloth and store it in a box away from direct sunlight, heat, and moisture. To restore the luster and shine of a gold or silver bracelet, use a polishing cloth formulated for such purposes and gently rub it on it.
Note: If your Cartier watch features delicate gemstones like pearls, emeralds, or opals, you can try to (very carefully) use a soft, lint-free cloth to wipe it and remove superficial grime or dirt gently. However, if you’re not thoroughly satisfied after doing this, it is best to leave any deeper cleaning to a specialist. For more information regarding care for luxury watches, click here.
