Prada Menswear Goes Into
a “Tunnel to Joy” for Spring 22
By The Rebag Team, Jun 22, 2021
Prada’s Spring/Summer 2022 Menswear Show Signaled a Return.
Miuccia Prada and Raf Simons sought out a return to normalcy in their Spring/Summer 2022 menswear show. The designers erected a long, red winding path — a “tunnel to joy” — that directed models to an idyllic seascape on a bright sunny day, calling for the carefree life that we lived before the pandemic hit last year.
Bursts of bold color brought a sense of joyfulness to the collection, sparking the need to look ahead. Prada’s version of a post-pandemic utopia may very well be the beach. An anchor-shaped earring with a tiny dangling Prada logo hung from one model’s ear, while an octopus dangled from another. Minimal, bucket-shaped bags and canvas backpacks donning stripes were among the accessories featured, along with a ring bearing the Prada logo.
The best — and most functional — accessory of the collection was no doubt the asymmetrical hybrid bucket hat that featured slits on the sides for holding sunglasses in place, and a triangular zip pouch with the Prada logo on a visor-shaped bill at the back. They’re perfect places for your shades and your change while going to the beach.
