Paris Fashion Week wrapped up a month of style.
Paris Fashion Week kicked off with the late Virgil Abloh’s final Off-White collection and finished with Miu Miu. Here are the highlights you missed, from the supermodel bonanza at Off-White to Balenciaga’s gripping statement on the war in Ukraine.
Off-White’s Last Collection Designed by Virgil Abloh
Off-White showed its final collection designed by Virgil Abloh, who passed
away last November. The show featured Abloh’s signature remixing of high and
low, and an array of supermodels from the past to present, including Naomi
Campbell, Cindy Crawford, Kaia Gerber, Kendall Jenner, Gigi Hadid, and Bella Hadid.

Balenciaga Comments on the War in Ukraine
Balenciaga’s Demna Gvasalia pivoted the show last-minute into a gripping
narrative that touched on the refugees fleeing Ukraine following Russia’s invasion.
Gvasalia speaks from his own traumatic experience of leaving his native Georgia
for Turkey, then Germany, when it was in the midst of a Civil War in the ‘90s.

Loewe’s Ode to Dada
Not realizing the parallel between today and World War I, Jonathan Anderson
found inspiration in Dada, the nonsensical art movement that started in
Zurich as a response to World War I. Loewe’s Fall/Winter 2022 collection
featured dresses with car silhouettes, balloon heels, and pursed-lip bodices.

Love Brings Love: The Alber Elbaz Tribute Show
After former Lanvin designer Alber Elbaz’s untimely passing in April 2021, AZ
Factory, the startup he recently founded, produced a tribute exhibition in his
owner featuring 46 fashion houses and designers. Named Love Brings Love: The Alber Elbaz Tribute Show,
the exhibition is on view at Paris’s Musée Galliera through July 10, 2022.
