Alessandro Michele is an Italian fashion designer who has been working for Gucci since 2002. Gucci appointed Michele as creative director of Gucci in 2015. After eight years as creative director, Gucci announced that it has parted ways with Alessandro Michele.

Gucci and Balenciaga teamed up and collaborated in a collection debuted in Pre-Fall 2020. The collection was called the Hacker Project and featured a number of bags and garments that incorporated both Gucci's and Balenciaga's logos.

The Gucci Aria collection saw Michele reintroduce yet another vintage Gucci style, the bamboo-handled Gucci Diana, which was originally made famous by Princess Diana, who is carrying it in the famous biker shorts and sweatshirt photo.
