Louis Vuitton Appoints Pharrell Williams as its  New Men’s  Creative Director

Designer 101

Taking Over

The American musician and fashion enthusiast, Pharrell Williams, will be taking over as creative director of Louis Vuitton menswear. His first collection will be presented at Paris Fashion  Week in June of this year.

Pharell Williams

Pharell Williams is no stranger to fashion. He started his fashion journey in 2003 when he  co-founded the successful street-wear brand Billionaire Boys Club with Japanese designer  (and Louis Vuitton collaborator), Nigo.

Chanel Collaboration

In 2019, Williams collaborated with Chanel to design a high-end street-wear collection for the French fashion house. He used Chanel’s widely known logos – both CC and N°5 – placing them on colorful hoodies and T-shirts.

Tiffany Collaboration

In January 2022 Williams unveiled a  collaboration with Tiffany, which was  acquired by Louis Vuitton’s parent company,  luxury conglomerate LVMH, the following year. When asked about the collaboration, Williams said, “Tiffany and I are engaged”.

Moncler Collaboration

Moncler asked seven designers to reimagine the classic Maya 70 Moncler jacket for their 70th anniversary. As one of the seven, Williams brought street-style elements to the luxury house. His  final design was a structured jacket with  miniature three-dimensional Moncler logos.

New Beginnings

Being appointed creative director of Louis  Vuitton menswear is a great honor for any  fashion enthusiast. Williams’ experience within the fashion industry and street credibility  are sure to help him achieve great success  in the role. We look forward to seeing  his new collection this summer.

“I am glad to welcome Pharrell back home, after our collaborations in 2004 and 2006 for Louis Vuitton . . . His creative vision beyond fashion  will undoubtedly lead Louis Vuitton towards a new and very exciting chapter,”  –Pietro Beccari
