America’s First  House of Fine Jewelry

Tiffany & Co. 101

A Revolution

Tiffany & Co. brought fine jewelry to America. Known for their signature shade of blue, the Tiffany Diamond, and countless engagement rings they took America by storm when they entered the market in 1848. This allowed the nation’s wealthy to purchase jewels stateside for the first time.

Tiffany Blue

Tiffany’s Robin's Egg Blue symbolizes the  house, but it wasn’t until 2001 that Tiffany officially created this Tiffany blue. Tiffany  worked with Pantone to make “1837 Blue.”

In 1877, Charles Lewis Tiffany bought one of  the world’s greatest yellow diamonds for $18,000.  The acquisition cemented Tiffany’s reputation  as the “King of Diamonds.”

The yellow diamond was cut into a cushion-shaped brilliant and made into a necklace. Above, Lady Gaga wears the Tiffany Diamond on the red carpet at the 2019 Oscar Awards.

Elsa Peretti

In 1974 Tiffany hired Elsa Peretti, who  arguably was the house’s chicest designer.  Peretti gave the house its edge by bringing back silver to the house and creating fashionable jewelry meant to be worn every day.

Acquired by LVMH

French luxury conglomerate LVMH acquired  the house in January 2021 after a year of negotiations, signaling a new era for the brand. The French luxury conglomerate launched a  "Not Your Mother's Tiffany" ad campaign to  signal a new, youthful Tiffany.

New Brand Ambassadors

LVMH enlisted Jay-Z and Beyoncé, pictured  in this Tiffany campaign, to be ambassadors  for the brand.

Tiffany x Supreme

In November 2021, the brand teamed up with streetwear and fashion brand Supreme for a “Return to Tiffany” Collaboration.
